There are many other wonderful palms to grow where you are. There are more palms than Foxy Lady. As Dean says, if it doesn’t budge after a week or two of this shock, you may have a dead palm and one day the crownshaft will just collapse on you along with any green material that remains.
Seed from a foxtail palm will only look like foxtail seeds even if something else is going in the seed. But I have had a foxy lady from came off of one of my foxtails…. Anyone have success with seeds from a foxy lady?

Foxy lady seeds?
Regardless, good luck and hopefully you’ll be able to get a hold of this great palm sooner rather than later.. Bigger ” seeder ” at Kopsick sits close to where the collection’s Veitchia grove is located. I have little doubt that had it been spring, or this time of year, germination likely would have succeeded.
Secondly, drought tolerance is typically referring to in ground established plants. foxy gold I’ve always heard that Foxy Lady’s like sun and are somewhat drought tolerant… By the looks of it, drying and wilting, what’re the odds of a rebound if I get it in the ground with profuse water? I highly recommend that you just plant this.
Time will tell with my original plant… I’m encouraged to see some growth of the spear, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed. So after a couple weeks of treatment, the remaining leaves are browning but I have noticed some minimal growth (a couple millimeters) of the spear.
- So today is my 24 hour soak, I added some super thrive to the water at 1 tsp per gallon and am hoping that my plant drinks it up!
- I agree with Len, yours is most likely a RSN Hawaiian grown, or Sparksman Florida import that has been resold.

The foxtails are the ones in community pots, and foxyladies are singles in 1 gal. It PROVES that it is a true foxy lady,as foxtails are almost never variegated. I’ve got several foxtails (probably too many, but it was the first “exotic” tree that I really liked), some common King palms, and some Kentias. Foxy Lady palms are incredibly fast growing palms and I think yours has a fighting chance if you get it in the ground ASAP and keep it’s rootball watered. It never ceases to amaze me how little water rootbound palms in pots get, even if you soak them everyday.
Exactly I believe even the green form has some at some point I saw a mature green form produce some variation. Did not notice the variegation earlier but as Jim pointed out, on the lower leaf there it is. Yeah I could tell it is 100% green as well. If anyone can find a pic of a small full green please post to show the difference thank you Few variegated fronds …..

I do need to get better on checking my palm talk tho! Purchased several years ago as a seedling from a breeder in Florida. Where did that palm originate? I hope/expect some new batches to hit the market sometime soon.
Maybe a few other palmtalkers that I sold F2 to can pipe in. The F2 I am growing so far is hard to tell if they will have the vigor yet, but so far, so good. The over variegated ones seem to languish and slowly die or just grow very slow, probably due to lack of chlorophyll. Are they the same as an F1 growth rate? I don’t know the different rates of growth for them in Florida.

Never noticed seed on the variegated Foxy located in another part of the collection. The one I’m growing in Leucadia is from the same source and purchased about the same time, as this and another “Foxy Lady” I have. @96720 Taking a look at your foxy lady in the pic.
Are Foxy Lady palms sterile?
They will feel heavier than the empty seeds as well. When looking at seeds on the Kopsick specimen(s), they will have a look that falls somewhere between those off Veitchia, and those off Foxtails. As far as I know it is possible for these two to hybridize. Good stuff when ever someone finds a full green or the lucky charm let me know would like a small one it’s almost like finding Waldo There is full green and mostly green.
Do you know if this palm was field grown, dug up, and then placed in its pot? Also the variegation seems to be a morphological example of hybrid decline as the greens show hybrid vigor. The seeds that Mike Evans germinated were F2, there is no guarantee they will be Wodveitchias. Foxtails that I’ve grown all seem to throw one spear and sit for a long time (weeks to months), at which point they resume normal growth. Pretty sure they keep their variegation, at this stage we can already see the difference between the variegated lot and the greenies. I had about 7 seeds so I just planted them all, one popped.

Sometime even though they are hard, they float. They s/b just a hard and firm as a foxtail or vetchia to be viable. The fastest way I check for viable seed is to roll the seed on concrete with my foot, giving it some moderate pressure. It took about years of seeding until some viable seed dropped. I have been growing F2 Foxy Ladies for the last 3 years. Well mine has a sparse seed set that dropped today.
Lots of people have been sold green ‘foxy lady’ palms in the past, that eventually turn out growing up into standard foxtails. When you germinated the seeds of the foxy lady and the foxtail did you plant them at the same time? My big green one enjoys full sun however and is the fastest growing palm in my landscape and I have hundreds of palms in the ground. These foxy lady palms are thirsty and it’s nearly impossible to overwater them. The foxtails have been grown in some shade, and the foxyladies have been growing in at least 1/2 day Sun.

I have got palms from Flouibunda and jungle music and never had the problem I had with this palm of you are going to ship palms at least learn how to pack them!!! I never said the palm looked bad I said it was basically bare root and variegated which I specifically said I didn’t want!!! He is the only one to have a problem with their foxy lady order, and started to complain even before it was delivered. 1 of each 3 and 7 is slightly variegated with 2 of each being greens.
